Chatham House releases summary report on FLEGT and SDGs workshop

Chatham House has published a summary of its workshop called ‘Integrating FLEGT and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ held on 28 September, 2016 in Brussels, Belgium.

Over 20 representatives from donor organisations, civil society and academia attended the workshop to discuss how monitoring of the EU Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan could be coordinated with, and integrated into, monitoring of the SDGs.

The objective of the meeting was to gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges in coordinating FLEGT and SDG monitoring. The attendees also worked to identify priority areas where FLEGT efforts, including capacity building, could best contribute to SDG monitoring activities. The workshop follows the recent independent evaluation of the EU FLEGT Action Plan and comes as countries consider how to best monitor progress towards the SDGs.
